
A Guide to Building Your New Home
Although building your new home is exciting, it can also feel extremely overwhelming. Through this guide, we walk you through each stage of the building process with Executive Building Group, so you feel informed and empowered to bring your new home to life.
1. Initial Consultation
Building your new home begins with the first step – your initial consultation with us. During this stage, we work with you to understand your vision, needs and budget and we also conduct a preliminary feasibility assessment of your project. This meeting can take place in our office or via phone and typically takes about 1 hour.
2. Site Assessment & Planning
Once the first stage is complete, we conduct a comprehensive site inspection and suitability analysis, identifying any potential site constraints, required approvals and design opportunities for your project.
3. Design & Approvals
This stage is extremely exciting, as you collaborate closely with our architects and designers to create your custom home design. This incorporates your vision and needs, while considering your budget, block and any design limitations.
This step may include several rounds of feedback and revisions, but once you are happy with the final design we prepare and submit your building application through either a DA (Development Application) via local council or CDC (Complying Development Certificate) for streamlined approval where applicable.
4. Finalising Pricing & Contract Signing
During this stage we present and agree upon a transparent, fixed-price building cost based on your design, and prepare and sign the official Housing Industry Association (HIA) Building Contract with you.
5. Selections & Personalisation
Work closely with our experienced in-house Interior Designer during this stage, who will guide you through each selection step for your new home. We provide expert assistance for selections including colours, materials, fixtures, fittings and finishes, ensuring your selections reflect your personal style and preferences.
To help keep your project on track and within budget, your contract includes allowances for these selections. Should you wish to explore options outside of the agreed inclusions, we will discuss these with you first and provide a clear variation for your approval, ensuring you have full control and transparency every step of the way.
6. Construction
It’s time for construction of your new home to begin! During this stage, our professional, experienced Project Manager will provide regular progress updates on your build, ensuring clear communication and transparency. You are also welcome to book site visits with our team to view construction progress.
7. Handover & Ongoing Support
Once construction has completed, we conduct your final walkthrough, inspection and formal handover. This includes detailed handover documentation and comprehensive warranty support.
